Spidertag

Metro21-Art Gallery & WOM, part of the Novator Partners LLP fund, invited us to design a BTL campaign to raise awareness on the visit of the renowned spanish lighting-design artist, SpiderTag. Known for his masterful geometrical and abstract artworks, Spidertag was invited and sponsored by the edgy Mobile Network Operator company in an effort to urban-hack the city with his work during January 2019.

Idea

We produced a branded content shortfilm in order to expand the extended universe of the artist’s mind. For this matter we piggybacked on a previous narrative that the brand was already working on.

As a marketing stunt they had explicitly accused the rest of the mobile phone companies of anti-competitive behaviour, calling them out on social media and TV by airing many parodies while taking the matter to court. This story arc of a so-called 'resistance' became our main source of inspiration.

The story unfolds in a dystopian scenario where social media is controlled by one phone provider and distributed through only one signal. Interactions are surveilled and dosed by turns. Under this narrative, Wom is the icon of the resistance against the oppressive monopoly of this rival and fictitious George Orwell's 1984 alike big-brother phone company. The shortfilm was conceived for Instagram utilizing quality and curiosity to generate leads that would inform the audience of the whereabouts of the artist's events and public performances during the month.
